On December
20, 1988, Annie B. Duggan
and Janie French gave birth to their first group of DFA practitioners. After several
years of gestation, on that day, DFA Somatic Pattern Recognition began its
trajectory as a body of work in the form of five practitioners who received it
from the hands of Annie and Janie. The date of its 25th anniversary
is drawing near. At ermie we are talking about how to celebrate this event and
we have come up with two ways which may become three or even four. The first is
for the very day, December 20, 2013, the second for the first days of spring
2014 and the other two would be forever.
I had the
great luck to be able to train as a DFA practitioner with Annie and Janie. In
order to express my gratitude for the great effort of giving a form and format
to their approach to Somatic Pattern Recognition and of coming to Spain to
teach it, at first, I wanted to send a big flower bouquet to Annie and a note
of acknowledgement to Nicholas, Janie husband, but I thought that we all
benefitted greatly from the work of these two women who touched our lives
deeply with love and integrity. So I thought that maybe you would like to
participate. Since I had thought of sending $50,- all of a sudden I saw a nice
sum of money coming together which could be dedicated to a cause in honor of
Annie and Janie, apart from a nice bouquet for Annie.
This cause
could be a scientific project led by Gerald Pollack, the water researcher at the
University of Washington in Seattle, whose work has been instrumental in
reaching the understanding of water dynamics that has allowed me to formulate a
hypothesis about the importance of water in the organization of belief systems
in the body, which is being well received by a series of researchers of the
subject. The project is about carrying out a series of scientific studies about
water that is organized in a coherent order and its role in cellular function
and its potential for promoting and sustaining health. A description of the
project can be found in Gerald’s campaign video. In acknowledgment of the financial help
received, the name of contributors will be included in the next edition of his
new book, which is selling quite well. This means that the next edition will
appear not too long from now. In our case, I image, something like this would
be included: in acknowledgement of 25 years of the Duggan/French Approach to
Somatic Pattern Recognition, in the name of Annie B. Duggan and
Janie French, a group of DFA practitioners gave such and such an amount…
If you
would like to make a contribution in honor of Annie and Janie to celebrate 25
years of DFA as well as the contribution it made to your life, please, contact
me before December 15, so that I can give you the details of how to do it. If
you do not have $50 but do want to make a contribution from your heart, give
what you can. If you are in a position to give more, feel free to give as much
as you want.
Second,
when I was telling Mónica
Extremiana, DFA practitioner and partner in ermie, about the anniversary coming up, Mónica
proposed organizing an event to celebrate the 25 years of DFA, not only with
the gesture of making a donation in acknowledgement for some flower for the
founder and a good cause, but coming together and sharing our many-colored
experiences with and of DFA, at the beginning of next spring (March 21-23). In a
few days I’ll send you a description of the idea and the shape it might take.
If you would like to participate from afar with a little video (no longer than
15 minutes), a paper or your actual physical presence, please enroll before
January 31.
Barcelona practitioners are asked to indicate
if they have space to house any participants from abroad. So, please let us
know soon if you would like to come and need a place to stay. We want this
celebration to be affordable for all those who would like to celebrate 25 years
of existence of a body of work that has opened doorways for all of us towards a
wide sustainable world where to find support and energy and towards the
possibility of helping others to feel better.
The third and
fourth form of celebration could come out of this event in the form of a commemorative
publication gathering the different contributions of the practitioners who
offer their presentation in person as well as of those who cannot be present physically
but do want to make a contribution in writing and/or with a little video. In
this manner, thirdly, we would end up with a collection of writings about the
various forms of application of DFA, with poetry and tales about the effects
DFA has had in personal lives… with whatever we’d want to share and contribute.
Fourth we would end up with a little video to publish in the www.
Filled with
hopeful anticipation and gratitude, I send you a big hug!
Brigitte
